Justine M. Petersen’s Vision

Justine PETERSEN furthers the legacy of Justine M. Petersen, a pioneer in advancing financial asset development among low and moderate-income individuals and families. Ms. Petersen melded the disciplines of social work and banking to yield partnerships that would allow individuals access to mainstream financial products and services. As an organization, Justine PETERSEN serves as a port of entry to mainstream finance, equipping and empowering individuals and families with the necessary knowledge, tools and products necessary to build intergenerational assets and wealth.

Our Mission

Justine Petersen Housing and Reinvestment Corporation (Justine PETERSEN) is a Missouri Not-for-Profit Corporation. Our mission is to connect institutional resources with the needs of low-to moderate-income individuals and families, helping them to build assets and create enduring change - not just for each individual or family that we assist, but the community as a whole.

Our mission is demonstrated by our services, which include credit building and financial education, homeownership preparation and retention, and micro-enterprise lending and training.

Our Impact

Since 2001, Justine Petersen Housing and Reinvestment Corporation has originated 8,647 loans totaling $148M to 5,650 small businesses:

  • $121M in Micro-enterprise loans for small businesses in need of safe, affordable working capital for start-up costs, expansion, and maintenance
  • $22.8M in Contractor loans for small construction firms looking to build their capacity so they can take on larger contracts to meet the construction needs of the St. Louis region
  • $4M in Able Biz loans for people with disabilities looking to expand their small business
