JP Receives $6.2 Million Federal Grant

Justine PETERSEN is proud to announce being a recipient of a federal grant in the amount of $6.2 million. The grant comes from the the U.S. Treasury Department’s Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) Fund Equitable Recovery Program (ERP), which is focused on providing economic support from the Covid-19 pandemic to low-and-moderate income communities. JP plans to deploy the funds for minority-owned businesses in the ERP census tracts throughout its Midwest footprint (Missouri, Illinois, Kansas). “These grants—representing the largest CDFI grant program in history—will enable hundreds of community lenders to invest in small businesses and entrepreneurs, and also provide home loans for families, financial services for local nonprofits, and capital for community organizations,” said Vice President Kamala Harris, who announced the awards on Monday, April 10, 2023 along with Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Wally Adeyemo.

JP congratulates their neighbor, St. Louis Community Credit Union for also being a recipient of an ERP grant. JP and St. Louis Community Credit Union are among 603 recipients of the grants. We’re looking forward to furthering investments in these resilient communities.

JP Welcomes SLATE Intern JaMiyah Cole!

Justine PETERSEN is pleased to welcome JaMiyah Cole as an Asset Building Intern! JaMiyah comes to JP through SLATE’s YouthBuild program, which provides on-the-job financial education and professional development for young adults entering the workforce. As an Asset Building Intern, JaMiyah is focusing on understanding the importance of credit activities, coordinating credit building sessions, and shadowing loan closing with products such as Drive. While this is her first time working in nonprofit and financial services, JaMiyah has previously held positions within retail. Bringing a quiet and gentle, yet eager spirit into the office each day, our teams appreciate JaMiyah’s reliability in taking on new tasks. JaMiyah’s natural drive for entrepreneurship and love for family are also clear as she recently helped her younger sister fundraise for her school by selling candy bars around the office; as for her older she says “she is a woman in my life who I really admire.” Welcome, JaMiyah!
