William P. Kovacs, Great Rivers Community Capital Board Member, is a General Counsel specializing in investment law with extensive business experience. Mr. Kovacs’s expertise includes investment and compliance aspects of SEC-registered mutual funds, US private investment funds, offshore funds domiciled in the Cayman Islands and Bermuda, insurance companies and SEC-registered investment advisers. Investment law experience includes representing institutional investors acquiring and managing publicly and privately issued debt and equity securities, derivatives, structured products, commercial mortgages, and syndicated bank loans. Extensive direct work on distressed investments including serving on creditor committees in major US bankruptcy proceedings. This “buy-side” focus is enhanced with issuer, compliance, and corporate governance experience obtained by serving as an officer or director of 5 public and over 25 private companies.
