A Sanctuary Celebrated: SITO Hosts a Successful Open House
Sanctuary In the Ordinary (SITO) opened its doors this week for a remarkable Open House, welcoming community partners, supporters, and friends into the space they’ve been thoughtfully shaping over the past year. The event marked a major milestone in the organization’s journey, and a meaningful opportunity to celebrate the progress made together.
From the moment guests arrived, there was a steady stream of warm energy and genuine excitement. According to Jeff Buck of SITO, the atmosphere was overwhelmingly positive. “Every comment I heard, and every comment I heard from the other SITO people, was very positive,” he shared. “We had a nice, steady stream of visitors throughout the day.”
More than 35 guests stopped by, representing a diverse network of connections who have played a role in bringing SITO’s vision to life. Attendees included representatives from St. Louis CDA and BJC HealthCare, two of SITO’s key funders and investors. Members from FCB Banks also joined in the celebration, along with individuals who have donated to SITO or participated in volunteer workdays.
The event also welcomed several of SITO’s contractors and vendors, including Ameren, whose contributions have helped shape the physical transformation of the space. Just as important, many of SITO’s social service provider partners were on site to see firsthand the sanctuary being built for the individuals and families they support.
The turnout exceeded expectations and reflected the broad and deep community investment in SITO’s mission. “It was nice to see people from such a variety of connections,” said Jeff. “It really shows how collaborative this effort has been.”
The open house was more than a showcase; it was a celebration of community, shared purpose, and the belief that safe, beautiful spaces can transform lives. Sanctuary In the Ordinary continues to grow as a beacon of stability and support in St. Louis, and this event reminded all in attendance just how powerful ordinary acts of sanctuary can be.

When the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted operations and slowed production, William relied on the strength of his loyal customer base and sought new ways to sustain his vision. In 2021, William partnered with Justine PETERSEN to access an SBA Microloan, allowing him to hire a financial officer and focus more on his artistry. A second loan in 2022 supported expansion efforts and provided working capital to meet growing demand.
As C & C continues to grow, William is preparing to pass the baton to his son, ensuring that the family legacy and commitment to handcrafted excellence live on.
C & C Custom Drums isn’t just a business; it’s a movement rooted in tradition, creativity, and community. Justine PETERSEN is proud to play a small part in their remarkable rhythm of success..
