St. Louis Mayor’s Luncheon: A Vision for Renewal and Resilience
The 2024 St. Louis Mayor’s Luncheon once again brought together civic leaders, business professionals, and community stakeholders to reflect on the progress of the city and to look ahead at the opportunities that lie before us. This year’s event held particular significance, as it marked the first luncheon under the leadership of newly elected Mayor Cara Spencer.

Mayor Spencer, who assumed office earlier this year, has already faced challenges that would test even the most seasoned leaders. Just one month into her term, St. Louis was struck by a powerful tornado that devastated parts of the city, displacing families and damaging infrastructure. In her remarks, Mayor Spencer acknowledged the hardship but emphasized the resilience of St. Louis residents and the collaborative spirit that has long defined the community.

“St. Louis is at a pivotal moment,” she noted, stressing the importance of working together to rebuild not only what was lost but to create a stronger foundation for the city’s future. Her vision centers on economic revitalization, neighborhood development, and fostering partnerships that bring both stability and growth to the region.

Among those in attendance were representatives from Justine PETERSEN, including Samantha O’Rourke and Andrew Barnes, who joined fellow community partners in supporting the Mayor’s call for collaboration. As an organization committed to expanding access to capital, housing, and credit-building opportunities, Justine PETERSEN remains dedicated to playing a central role in the city’s ongoing revitalization. Its mission closely aligns with the themes of the luncheon: strengthening neighborhoods, empowering small businesses, and ensuring that economic opportunity reaches every corner of St. Louis.

The luncheon also highlighted the role of the broader business and nonprofit community in shaping St. Louis’s trajectory. Attendees were encouraged to see themselves as partners in progress, supporting local initiatives, investing in infrastructure, and creating opportunities for small businesses to thrive. The message was clear: rebuilding St. Louis is not the work of one office alone but a shared responsibility across sectors.

As the city continues to recover and reimagine its future, the Mayor’s Luncheon served as a reminder of what can be accomplished when resilience meets leadership. Together, with determination and collaboration, St. Louis is on a path to renewal, building a city that reflects both its proud history and its promise for generations to come.

SITO Builds New Garden Space at Delmar Location

SITO has been busy this week creating a new garden space for tenants at its Delmar property. Volunteers and friends of the organization came together in the morning to construct four garden beds, working hard while enjoying the process.

The project will continue through the month with the addition of a gazebo, which is expected to be completed by the end of October. Once finished, the garden will offer tenants a welcoming outdoor area to gather, relax, and enjoy the surroundings.

The effort reflects SITO’s dedication to providing tenants with more than just housing by investing in spaces that foster community and well being.
