Client Spotlight: Charise Cross and The Urban Spa

Divinity Cross has transformed self-care in the St. Louis area with her innovative concept of The Urban Spa, a mobile spa service that brings rejuvenating treatments directly to clients at both large events and private gatherings. As The Urban Spa approaches its fourth anniversary this July, Divinity’s entrepreneurial journey is a testament to determination, resilience, and community support.

Three years ago, Divinity sought a loan from Justine PETERSEN to upgrade her mobile spa bus with solar panels. Unlike traditional food trucks, her spa-on-wheels is one of the few of its kind in the region. Equipped with advanced technology, including solar panels for energy efficiency during extreme weather, The Urban Spa has received widespread acclaim. From busy events hosting up to 200 people to intimate gatherings, Divinity’s innovative service model has positively impacted many lives.

A key motivation behind Divinity’s work is her passion for accessibility. She recognized the need for self-care options among families unable to visit traditional spa locations, aiming to bring wellness directly to their doorsteps. This determination was further fueled by her personal experience of overcoming a successful kidney transplant, which inspired her to launch The Urban Spa.

Divinity’s journey to secure funding through Justine PETERSEN was supported by her counselor at the Small Business Administration (SBA). Reflecting on her experience, she credits Justine PETERSEN for providing a smooth loan process and reasonable payment terms, allowing her to focus on her passion without the burden of financial stress. Recently, she celebrated the completion of her loan payments, marking another significant milestone in her inspiring journey.

Today, The Urban Spa is more than just a business; it is of innovation and perseverance. Divinity’s ability to integrate science, technology, and engineering into her business model—particularly through the functionality of her solar-powered bus—highlights her commitment to excellence. Her work has garnered attention from local communities, leading to partnerships with organizations like St. Louis Moms to promote self-care and wellness.

As Divinity looks forward to her fourth year in business, she continues to inspire others with her entrepreneurial spirit. Her story emphasizes the significance of resilience, creativity, and community support in turning dreams into reality.
