JP Staff Celebrates the Year 2024

Celebrating with Gratitude and Excitement for the New Year

As we approach the end of another remarkable year, it’s a wonderful time for reflection and gratitude. The past months have brought countless challenges, achievements, and new friendships, each contributing to our growth and collective journey. Because of this, we stop to celebrate the incredible bonds that we have made and the work we have accomplished together.

This year was particularly special as we transformed our traditional gatherings into vibrant celebrations of community and togetherness. Our latest festive event was filled with laughter, joy, and delicious food, creating an atmosphere that truly captured the heart of our organization. Local Chef Neese of That’s So Good, treated us to her specialties, reminding us that sharing a meal can be a powerful way to foster connection.

One of the most exciting highlights of the evening was a lively gift exchange that brought out the playful spirit in everyone. The room buzzed with laughter as unexpected gifts were swapped and surprising stories were shared, creating memories that we will cherish for years to come. It reminded us that while gifts may be momentary, the joy of togetherness lasts well beyond the holiday season.

During our gathering, we focused on honoring the individuals who contribute to the vitality of our community. We took the time to recognize long-standing members whose dedication has profoundly shaped our mission, alongside newer team members whose fresh ideas and perspectives have revitalized our efforts. Celebrating everyone’s unique contributions reinforced the message that each individual plays a vital role in our shared success. Additionally, Andrew and Sam were the winners of the “Guess The Baby” contest, correctly identifying 17 answers.

As we look back on the year, we feel a deep sense of gratitude for the resilience and collaboration that have shaped our journey. Every challenge we encountered was met with collective strength, and each triumph was made even more meaningful by our shared joy. As we move forward, we are excited about the opportunities that the new year will bring. With hope and determination, we strive to continue making a positive impact in our communities, standing together as we embrace all that lies ahead.

It was nice to take the time to relax and have fun with one another at this time. In this season of gratitude, let’s embrace the spirit of connection, support, and enthusiasm as we move into the new year. We are not celebrating only our achievements, but we look at the efforts of everyone in this organization, and to no end look towards the possibilities ahead.

What an Incredible Celebration with WEPower!

WePower Accelerator Graduation

Last night, I had the pleasure of attending the graduation ceremony for a remarkable group of entrepreneurs who completed the program at WePower. The energy in the room was amazing as the graduates showcased their hard work, resilience, and dedication—not just to their businesses, but also to personal growth and balance.

There was a pitch contest where entrepreneurs shared their visionary ideas. While the Construction Pitch Contest took place in another room, the photos I shared are from the General Industry Pitch. Every single pitch was inspiring, and if I had the funds, I would have supported each one of them.

Still, one pitch stood out to me—the sneaker entrepreneur. His vision extended beyond personal success; it was about uplifting the entire community. That focus on creating space for others is where I would have invested my money.

The evening was filled with highlights, including the celebration of graduates and their inspiring journeys, delicious appetizers, and the opportunity to connect with incredible individuals while promoting Justine Petersen as a valuable resource.

One conversation that stuck with me was when someone assumed that we take ownership of the businesses we help. I made sure to clarify, “Sis, that’s not us!” We’re a CDFI (Community Development Financial Institution), which means we’re here to support and empower, not to take a piece of your dream.

All in all, it was a fantastic event filled with inspiring individuals doing great things. I’m grateful to have been a part of it!
