Empowering Our Community: Justine PETERSEN Secures Two Major Grants to Amplify Our Mission and Impact!
The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has announced the recipients of the 2024 Program for Investment in Microentrepreneurs (PRIME) grants. A total of $7 million will be distributed among 28 nonprofit organizations to support the growth of small businesses, particularly in underserved communities. Justine PETERSEN Housing and Reinvestment Corporation was awarded a $300,000 Track 1 Technical Assistance Grant, with an additional $150,000 in matching funds. Maureen Brinkley, SBA St. Louis District Director, expressed enthusiasm for our work, stating that we have been the best microlender in the nation and have exceeded expectations since being brought into the SBA program over 26 years ago.
Justine PETERSEN is also thrilled to announce that we have received a generous $250,000 grant from the Opportunity Finance Network (OFN) Finance Justice Fund! This funding will greatly support our mission in St. Louis, MO. We are grateful to the OFN organization for their support and are excited to see our work continue in the St. Louis area.

Nikki delivered an outstanding presentation, showcasing one of her many strengths—her ability to connect with and educate others.

A My Credit Compass Success Story! Jessica Brown
Meet Jessica Brown, one of our dedicated My Credit Compass members. In addition to being one of our scavenger hunt winners in July, Jessica has graciously shared her journey of success using My Credit Compass, offering inspiration and motivation to others on their financial paths. Here is her story in her own words.
“I signed up for Credit Compass some time ago based on a recommendation from one of my loan counselors at Justine Petersen. It’s been very important for me to monitor my credit and see what I can do to improve my score. Since signing up, I’ve been checking my score weekly and using the score stimulator, which provides a snapshot of what my score could be if I make certain changes. It also shows me how my score would be impacted if I took out additional credit. Overall, Credit Compass has been a highly recommended tool for monitoring your score or working on your credit. They even offer educational information on how to build your credit and understand the components that make up your score. Since I started using Credit Compass and taking advantage of the educational center, I’ve been able to strategically improve my score by over 60 points.” Jessica Brown.
