The Power of Quality Jobs on an Economy

This Labor Day Weekend, Justine PETERSEN reminds everyone that quality jobs are a key driver to an equitable and robust economy. Jobs that provide living wages, substantial health benefits, and safe working conditions must become more accessible across all companies, industries, and labor force participants. However, a majority of low-wage worker are employed by small and medium-sized business. We also know that BIPOC workers are disproportionately impacted. As an Aspen Institute CDFI partner, JP is committed to helping small business clients in integrating job quality solutions, including employee development, job incentives, and wealth building. We honor all workers, their contributions to communities and economies, and look forward to continue advocating for a more equitable future for them to prosper.

Credit Cue: Consistency

Contributed by Asset Building Manager, Tatiana Gillum and Resource Development Associate Andrew Barnes

Consistency is the cornerstone to achieving a healthy credit profile and seeing substantial improvement. It entails diligently adhering to good financial practices and making responsible decisions that positively impact your creditworthiness. Here are a few key factors to consider when aiming to get your credit on track:

  1. Reduce debt: Consistently reducing your debt is essential for improving your credit. Aim to pay off outstanding balances regularly, focusing on high-interest debts first. By consistently chipping away at your debt, you gradually lower your credit utilization ratio, which positively impacts your credit score.
  2. Monitor credit reports: Regularly monitoring your credit reports is pivotal to address any discrepancies and inaccuracies promptly. Reviewing your free credit report/score from Experian that is provided on the My Credit Compass platform is all you need.
  3. Seek professional guidance: If you find it challenging to navigate the complexities of credit improvement, consider seeking professional assistance from your credit counselor, Tatiana Gillum.

Remember, consistent effort over time is vital to getting your credit on track and seeing the positive changes you desire. By incorporating these practices into your financial routine, you can gradually improve your creditworthiness and enjoy the benefits of a healthy credit profile. To learn more about how to better monitor your credit report and score, meet virtually or in-person with Asset Building Manager Tatiana Gillum.
