JP Awarded Microlender of the Year by SBA Illinois
This past Tuesday, July 18th, Justine PETERSEN’s Central Illinois team took a short road trip north to Chicago to attend the SBA Illinois 2023 Lender Awards Luncheon. Taking place at the Union League Club in Chicago’s Loop, the event included remarks from senior leaders at the SBA, State of Illinois, and Chicagoland lending organizations, which all lead up to an awards presentation celebrating lenders and small business advocates throughout Illinois. JP received the unique distinction of SBA Microloan Program of the Year. The award comes four months after JP, in partrnership with Champaign County and the Champaign County Economic Development Corporation, officially launched the Champaign County Loan Fund. JP’s Central Illinois Operations Manager Tristan Brown (pictured), who is based in Champaign, accepted the award on behalf of the organization, which was presented by Robert (Bo) Steiner, SBA Illinois District Director. Also representing JP with Tristan was Asset Building Counselor Kristen Willis, who is based in Springfield, IL. While Kristen and Tristan do spend a great deal of time serving clients in the communities they’re based in, they also work hard to grow relationships and service small business needs for clients in Decatur, Peoria, and other parts of Illinois. JP considers it a wonderful honor to be recognized alongside partners and peers, such as Peoples National Bank and Bank of Springfield, and looks forward to continue being accessible to Illinois small business entrepreneurs.
JP Welcomes Summer Intern Bryce Clark!
The Justine PETERSEN office is feeling fresh and fun this Summer thanks to new, young faces! Bryce Clark was welcomed on as our college intern from SLATE and has made a big splash, not only because of his height, but his strong work ethic. Bryce is primarily supporting the credit building team, working with clients and learning from the team how to structure the right credit action plans for those clients. Looking forward to graduating in Spring 2024 from Alabama A&M University with a Business Administration degree, concentrating in Management Information Systems, Bryce is particularly interested in understanding the data platforms JP utilizes on a daily basis in order to serve clients most efficiently and effectively. With JP being a Community Development Financial Insitution (CDFI), Bryce is also enjoying witnessing firsthand the client cycle from when someone initially comes through to their loan transaction being made, meaningfully impacting their financial wellness. Bryce says of his experience at JP so far “there are so many different backgrounds of people who come in, which makes it a fun work environment and I get to learn something new everyday.” While busy at JP, Bryce also stays busy outside of it, going on trips, hanging poolside, and visiting the St. Louis Zoo with friends and family. We’re excited to have you here, Bryce!
Join JP at MoCaFi’s On Our Block Event
On Friday, August 4th several of Justine PETERSEN’s asset building counselors and other staff members will be at MoCaFi’s On Our Block community banking event. Happy Birthday to Justine PETERSEN Asset Building and HUD Certified Housing Counselor Tyler Janssen! Tyler is an amazing colleague to all here, always willing to lend an ear and talk things through. We hope his day will be the same, especially as he gets to ring it in over the weekend, and celebrate with friends and family.
