The JP UP Date: Getting Ready for Black History Month

Justine PETERSEN is looking forward to celebrating Black History Month beginning Wednesday, February 1st. We invite others to join us in honoring, reflecting, and participating in the vast contributions of those from the African American and Black community. Throughout the course of February, JP will have various programming to educate our staff and the community that we will promote here in the UP Date and on our social media channels. In particular, we will focus on how the access to financial tools and assets creates freedom by building generational wealth.For those looking to get a head start on the month, here’s a starter list of recommended content and ways to show support for the community:

Justine PETERSEN Asset Building Manager, Tatiana Gillum, is adding another role to her growing repertoire: panel speaker! On Sunday, February 5th, Tatiana will be part of Flawed Mom’s Financial Literary Night, speaking on how to acquire and build business credit, as well as what the basics then are of running your small business. Flawed Mom is a nonprofit that is centered around supporting homeless, abused, and in transition women by providing financial and product assistance. What excites Tatiana most about participating in this event is “connecting with other mothers about the importance of creating financial stability for their households. As a mother, I know how overwhelming it is to juggle the needs of yourself and children, while also being present for everything else in your life.” Women and men who are parents, or looking to become small business owners, are encouraged to attend this event. A donation of any amount, which can be made here, secures your registration for the event.

The party tiara was broken out earlier this week for one of our most colorful team members inside and out, Estelle Brueggemann! As Finance Associate, Estelle’s daily utility to Justine PETERSEN is immeasurable and her patience unmatched.
