Justine PETERSEN Awarded Renewable and Energy Efficiency Financing Grant

Justine PETERSEN is thrilled to accept a Renewable and Energy Efficiency Financing Grant from Opportunity Finance Network (OFN). OFN has awarded 24 CDFIs with this grant, totaling $2.9 million. The intention of this grant is to provide CDFIs with “lending capital or loan loss reserves for renewable and energy-efficiency financing programs.” As part of its 2023-2025 strategic plan, JP is committed to integrating environmental sustainability into our facilities through enhanced lighting, elimination of single use water bottles and serving ware. Additionally, the strategic plan explicitly lays out the goal of providing energy efficiency through financing redevelopment projects and a new product, WeatherUp, which will promote racial equity through reducing the energy efficiency burden. Communities of low-to-moderate income households are disproportionately impacted by the adversities of climate change due to extreme weather events like flooding, dangerously hot temperatures, and wildfires, among other factors. JP is proud to support investments to address these challenges and protect residents.

Justine PETERSEN Welcomes Amy Jung to Our Development Team!

Justine PETERSEN is excited to formally introduce Amy Jung as Senior Resource Development Associate! Amy’s work is centered around reporting efforts for grants, as well as our loan programs. The reporting she manages is then used to create and submit grant proposals, in addition to auditing data integrity and tracking. Before coming onto JP, Amy completed her Master’s in Business Administration with her career experience being primarily rooted in accounting, tax preparation and data entry. She made the pivot to JP after a long-held interest in non-profit work. JP’s mission of improving family economies through financial asset and credit building both aligned with that interest, as well as her background. Now that we’re in the midst of the holiday season, Amy enjoys spending time outside of the office “watching cheesy Christmas movies, eating too much food, and spending time with family and friends.”

JP Staffer Maria Gomez Defends Master’s Capstone Project Examining Local CDFI Awareness

Justine PETERSEN staffer Maria Gomez successfully defended her capstone project as part of her Master’s Degree in Marketing Research today at the Business School of SIUE, Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. Maria’s capstone project collected data on local awareness of CDFIs – community development financial institutions – with a specific focus on Justine PETERSEN. Maria’s research included both real time interviews as well as a broader survey component, which resulted in the synthesis and analysis of both qualitative and quantitative data. JP staffer Galen Gondolfi served as an advisor for her capstone project and participated in Maria’s final defense. Good work Maria! And CONGARATS on your graduation!
