Mark Your Calendars! Black-owned Friday, Small Business Saturday and Giving Tuesday

This upcoming week is chock full of tangible opportunities to support both small businesses and financial asset-building on a grand scale. Black Friday, the day following Thanksgiving, is historically a manic day of holiday shopping for most. Please put Black-owned businesses front and center this “Black-owned Friday” by supporting and patronizing both those that are bricks and mortar in our neighborhoods and those that trade online. Wake up on Saturday morning and either hit the sidewalk or your keyboard to holiday shop and support small businesses far and wide on “Small Business Saturday.” This can also include independent small businesses that are located in shopping malls – especially kiosk-based businesses. And on Tuesday is “Giving Tuesday,” a worldwide day of charitable giving. Please consider making a tax deductible contribution to advance the mission of Justine PETERSEN. You can donate here on “Giving Tuesday” or even donate today or any other day before or after! Your dollar empowers dollars to families and communities poised for financial asset-building. Hear JP staffer Galen Gondolfi discuss Giving Tuesday and JP’s mission in this interview on KTRS 550. Listen here!

JP Welcomes Nour Mohamed to Housing Team!

Justine PETERSEN is excited to formally re-introduce Noureldin (Nour) Mohamed as our new Housing Associate! Nour previously served as an AmeriCorpsVISTA at JP through Housing Action Illinois to provide support, build capacity and ensure enhanced customer service and processes in our housing department. Now as a full-time member of JP, Nour will be maintaining our current pipeline of over 200 homeownership clients by providing counseling and navigating them through what is usually complex process. Nour was drawn to stay on at JP because he finds “helping people achieve generational wealth through building equity and accessing fair housing a deserved right for the clients we serve.” While taking a break from transitioning clients through credit building to property ownership, this Thanksgiving holiday Nour is looking forward to sizzling gravy atop mashed potatoes with a side of turkey and cranberry sauce. To learn more about Nour’s work in home ownership, reach out to NMohamed@justinepetersen.org..
