Start Up Week in STL Includes Justine PETERSEN as Part of Spark St. Louis Capital Access Panel

Spark St. Louis, the dynamic co-working space located at Ballpark Village in downtown St. Louis, hosted a capital access panel as part of “Start Up Week.”  Facilitated and moderated by Emily Breedlove, Executive Director of TechSTL, “Show Me the Money:  A Panel on Business Funding” included Galen Gondolfi of JP, Jenny Merlo of Enterprise Bank & Trust, Julia Campbell of Arch Grants and Brian Matthews of Cultivation Capital.  The panel covered the spectrum of small business start-up financing options, from microloans, to conventional loan products to venture capital offerings and actual grants.

Justine PETERSEN Welcomes Marcus Bolden

Justine PETERSEN is pleased to welcome Marcus Bolden as Business Assistance Manager to our BAT team.  With the dual title of BATMAN, Macus leads our Business Assistance Team in their wrap around technical service provision to our JP small business clients.  Most specifically, Marcus and the BAT team will track and monitor the progress of JP small business clients across an array of metrics.  Marcus comes from a seasoned history where both “people and numbers matter,” and he “enjoys working with both.”  As to why he wanted to work at JP?  Marcus stated, “I desired to work for JP because of our rich history of working with low to moderate income individuals.  This is more than a job, it’s an opportunity to create life-changing financial moments for people.” Outside of the office, Marcus enjoys family time, Netflix, music production and working out.  Marcus is also a Navy Veteran, so we honored Marcus and all vets this past Veteran’s Day.

Lights!  Camera!  Action!  The Mary Ann Show!

JP staffers Ramona Scott and Shawna Collier recently participated in a “Community Day Celebration” at the T-Rex Incubator located in downtown St. Louis, hosted by Mary Hamilton of the “The Mary Ann Show.”  Joining Justine PETERSEN as a proud sponsor were the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis and Midwest Bank Centre.  The Mary Ann Show “believes in bringing individuals and families together to share valuable information that will help them improve their life’s circumstances.” Hats off to Mary Hamilton on orchestrating a successful event!

Future JP Chief Financial Officer Begins Newborn Training Regimen

Today’s world of nuanced non-profit finance requires training within two months out of the womb. Asher, the newborn son of JP Director of Finance Brandy Boyer, has begun his in-office training, so comprehensive, that it includes not only Quickbooks but eye contact and burping.  Brandy and Asher’s first collective effort included a spreadsheet detailing feeding times and diaper changes.
