August is National Black Business Month and Justine PETERSEN is recognizing and celebrating Black businesses each day of the month. As one of the nation’s largest microlenders to Black owned small businesses, Justine PETERSEN witnesses 365 days a year the vitality and tenacity of Black businesses. Throughout the month of August, JP will showcase Black businesses on our social media and highlight success story after success story. But Black businesses need everyone’s support to grow and thrive, so show your support by patronizing Black businesses not only throughout the month of August, but throughout the calendar year.
Shawna Collier Promoted to Chief Partnership Officer at Justine PETERSEN
Justine PETERSEN is most proud to announce the promotion of JP staffer Shawna Collier to the position of Chief Partnership Officer. Shawna will bring to the senior management team her well-honed skills of fostering, nurturing and shepherding partnerships – from faith based to the private sector to all levels of government. A six plus year veteran of Justine PETERSEN, Shawna will continue to lead the Business Assistance Team (BAT) in addition to executing strategic partnerships to further JP’s mission of asset-building for all. Metro East Start-Up Challenge 1st Round Executive Summaries Due August 8
It’s again the time of year for the annual Metro East Start-up Challenge! Facilitated by the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) of SIUE and East St. Louis and the Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville School of Business, the Metro East Challenge offers businesses located in Metro East of the St. Louis metropolitan area, established after April 30, 2018, to compete for a chance to receive funding and in-kind services. Four winners will share a $22,000 prize package and in-kind services including legal, accounting, website design and coworking space. First round executive summaries are due August 8, 2021 at 11:59 PM. Learn more here!
