First Mid Bank & Trust Invests $250k into Emerging Markets Loan Fund
Justine PETERSEN welcomes First Mid Bank & Trust as the latest investor into our Emerging Markets Loan Fund. With a $250,000 commitment, First Mid Bank & Trust’s participation ensures the availability of deployable small business capital for under-resourced businesses located throughout central and southern Illinois. The Emerging Markets Loan Fund is a special purpose vehicle (SPV) investment opportunity for financial institutions, philanthropic foundations and private wealth that dually builds equity ultimately for Justine PETERSEN’s CDFI (community development financial institution) while providing access to safe and affordable capital to small businesses at various stages of development.
JP Welcomes LaShonna Barrow as University of MO-STL Practicum Student
We at Justine PETERSEN are most delighted to have LaShonna Barrow joining us this spring semester for her final practicum for fulfillment of her Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of Missouri at St. Louis (UMSL). At JP, we view our collective mission as a hybrid of social work and banking, so there is no shortage of MSWs on staff. Moreover, LaShonna is earning a Certificate in Nonprofit Leadership and Management. At Justine PETERSEN her duties include a comprehensive outcome evaluation of Credit Building Nation, JP’s credit-building initiative that is national in scope, and our secured credit card program which provides individuals the opportunity to open a revolving line of credit. And when asked why she chose Justine PETERSEN for her practicum, LaShonna enthusiastically responded, “Years ago, it was not until I came to JP to have my credit pulled and talked to a counselor that I realized how important credit was!” Welcome aboard LaShonna!
