Luxury lifestyle brand Tory Burch has tapped the Kansas City metro for its first Kansas location.
New York-based Tory Burch plans a fall opening at Legends Outlets Kansas City, where it’s taking over a 3,000-square-foot space across from Polo Ralph Lauren Factory. Offerings will include shoes, handbags and accessories. The store also plans to host outlet-only events.
“As the No. 1 requested luxury handbag and accessory retailer by our shoppers, we worked very closely with Tory Burch to solidify that Legends Outlets traffic, co-tenancy and strong spending power of our demographic created a win-win for a successful partnership,”
Stacy Scheelk, senior director of operations and business development at Legends Outlets, said in a release.
The Legends also recently announced that Sephora plans to open in early 2021 and will occupy a6,085-square-foot space next to Michael Kors. Its selection will include items, such as cosmetics, skincare, haircare, and fragrances.
Tory Burch, which launched in 2004, has grown to more than 300 stores worldwide. Although this is the retailer’s first area location, it already has ties to the Kansas City market through its ToryBurch Foundation Capital Program, which offers affordable microloans to female entrepreneurs through Community Development Financial Institutions. One of its institution partners is Justine Petersen.
“In Kansas City, we’ve done close to 400 loans with Tory Burch and deployed over $3 million,” Justine Petersen Chief Communications Officer
Galen Gondolfi told the Kansas City Business Journal in 2019. “That’s a significant impact. We’re really proud of what we’ve done here.”
