TheBANK of Edwardsville Offers FHLB Grant Funds to JP and Other Local Partners

Longtime Justine PETERSEN partner TheBANK of Edwardsville recently shared a $10,000 grant from the Federal Home Loan Bank (FHLB) of Chicago with Justine PETERSEN and three local non-profits. Earlier this month, TheBANK of Edwardsville was announced as the first recipient of the 2019 FHLB Community First Awards, which recognize outstanding achievements of FHLB Chicago’s member institutions and their local partners as they work together to strengthen their communities through affordable housing and economic development initiatives. The BANK won the award for their MyCommunity Home and Home Improvement loan programs, which assist individuals who seek to own or remodel a home but may not qualify for traditional banking products.
Along with the award, TheBANK also received a $10,000 grant to donate to local nonprofit organizations. TheBANK split the grant between four organizations – Justine PETERSEN, Beyond Housing, Community Action Agency of St. Louis County (CAASTLC) and Prosperity Connection. We at JP thank the TheBANK for not only this donation, but for the years of steadfast partnership in serving both sides of the river!

Lights, Camera, Action, VISTA!

A star-studded cast brought an element of Hollywood to the Justine PETERSEN office this week, as videographers filmed footage of our valiant Americorps VISTA volunteer Daniel Koslovsky in action. Under the coordination of Mission: St. Louis, a 30-second recruitment video advertisement is being produced to ultimately play in local theaters before feature films. We are excited to see Daniel on the big screen!

Ellen O’Neill of the St. Louis City Treasurer’s Office will be offering a comprehensive overview of the College KIDS savings account program at the Justine PETERSEN office on April 15, 12-1:30 as part of JP’s ongoing “Lunch N Learn” series. Ellen, Program Coordinator, provided details about the program which serves kindergarten, 1st, 2nd and 3rd graders at St. Louis Public Schools and charter schools. College KIDS helps children save for college and provide access to safe and affordable financial resources. JP’s “Lunch N Learn” series is financed in part through an allocation of community development block grant (CDBG) funds from the Department of Housing and Urban Development and the City of St. Louis Community Development Administration.

What is Your Dog’s “FIDO” Score?

Nothing but puppy love in the office this week as “Duke” accompanied mother and daughter combo Lupe and Issurah King on their credit building consultation with JP staffer Ben Feimer. Duke arrived in a basket, and essentially made basketcases out of JP staffers, slaying them with his unabated cuteness and all-around puppy demeanor. As for Duke’s FIDO score? PAWFECT!
