Aspen Institute’s Microfinance Impact Collaborative: Strengthening US Microenterprise Finance Organizations

The Microfinance Impact Collaborative is a group of six leading microlenders, who are Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs). The members include Allies for Community Business, Ascendus, DreamSpring, Justine PETERSEN, LiftFund, and Accion Opportunity Fund. The collaborative efforts of this group, along with the insights of our Chief Operating Officer Sheri Flanigan-Vazquez, Chief Executive Officer Robert Boyle, and the rest of the Aspen Institute team, are focused on advancing the efforts of microenterprise finance organizations in the United States.
Established in 2015, the Microfinance Impact Collaborative acts as a platform for its members to share their insights, innovations, and challenges related to expanding their microenterprise finance initiatives. By working together and sharing collective learning and action, members collaborate on various topics such as underwriting, capitalization strategies, non-bank alternative lenders, market dynamics, technological advancements, and organizational capacity building.
This team of microfinance leaders has been working together to publish valuable resources and organize events to share important learnings. By utilizing the knowledge and experiences of its members, the initiative aims to significantly increase the reach and effectiveness of microenterprise finance in the United States.
The Microfinance Impact Collaborative inspires us with their commitment to strengthening microfinance initiatives throughout the United States. By pooling resources and expertise, the group serves as a beacon of collaboration and collective learning, driving tangible progress in the field. Through their efforts, they remind us of the power of working together towards a common goal.
